Mayor Asks Officials to Hasten Ganesh Festival Arrangements

Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi on Thursday instructed officials concerned to complete the arrangements required for the upcoming Ganesh festival with prior planning. On Thursday, the Mayor visited several areas of Serilingampally zone within the field limits and inspected the sanitation situation, condition of roads and ponds and gave instructions to the officials concerned.

She also directed the officials concerned to complete all arrangements in advance in coordination to ensure that the festivities were held in a pleasant atmosphere in view of the Ganesh festival from September 7 to 17. She said cleanliness should be maintained smoothly and no complaints should be received. The Sanitation officials have been instructed to continuously monitor the maintenance of sanitation within the field limits.

On the occasion, she inspected Malkam Cheruvu, Gopi Cheruvu, Nallagandla Cheruvu, Raya Samudram, Saki Cheruvu, Gangaram Cheruvu, Gautham Baby Pond, Kadiyam Kunta, Durgam Tanks and Roads. She said the baby pond and Saki pond should be prepared for Ganesh immersion. She said a security guard should be set up to protect the ponds. Stating that the dengue cases have been detected in residential areas around Gangaram tank, she said the officials of the entomology department had been instructed to take appropriate measures to control it. She said the report should be sent to the Mayor's office from time to time.

She also directed the concerned officials to remove the water high silting in Gangaram tank on a war-footing, remove the horse's deck and other waste taken from the tank from time to time and complete the work within a week.

The Police department officials had been instructed to make arrangements for bandobust at dark spots to prevent any untoward incidents and make arrangements for security at night. She instructed the officials concerned to take steps to ensure that the roads where the procession of idols continues during Vinayaka immersion were good. She asked the officials to take up DDM layer works on BT roads on Ganesh immersion procedure routes. She instructed the officials to provide basic amenities to the devotees at the immersion sites and areas.

She also directed the officials to take remedial measures for those who have lost their properties in the widening of Khajaguda road. She instructed the officials concerned to clean the park in the colony at cheruvu and send proposals for the development of Aurobindo tank through CSR method. Zonal Commissioner Upender Reddy has been instructed to focus on the issues suggested by the respective area corporators.

Along with Mayor Gadwal Vijaya Lakshmi, Zonal Commissioner Upender Reddy, officials of Sanitation, Lakes, Engineering and other departments, corporators Gangadhar Reddy, Ragam Nagender Yadav, Pushpa Nagesh Yadav, Manjula Raghunath, Srikanth, Poojita Jagadishwar Goud, Hamid Patel and others participated in this inspection.
